Parents Is Your Child Fully Prepared

To Ace Their SAT/ACT Exam?

Now more than ever top Universities are looking at a high SAT/ACT score over a students overall GPA. Love it or hate it a good score on the SAT/ACT can mean the difference between getting into the top 1% of schools and securing the most amount of scholarships.

HOW STONE HALL TUTORS HAS HELPED 100's OF STUDENTS GET INTO TOP SCHOOLS & EARNS $10,000s WORTH OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Step 1: Make Sure Kids Understand The Value Of The Exam!

Let’s be real. This test sucks. It’s stressful; it’s challenging, and we often ask students to take on the extra responsibility of preparation in their junior year when classes are already starting to become more difficult!

In every first FREE DEMO LESSON, we take the time to talk with the kids and ask what they want out of the process.

Prep is time-consuming, expensive, and hard! It’s not right for everyone… It’s important to have students articulate why they want a great score.

Better options for schools? More scholarship money? Hitting a benchmark score for sports recruitment? Making them feel like they have agency in the process and that it’s their decision is PARAMOUNT for success.

And – yes – there are students we have decided not to work with for those reasons. Our business is built on the backs of referrals and reviews. We never want to have an unsatisfied family – NEVER ☺

Step 2: TAILOR THE EXPERIENCE FOR EACH STUDENT

Not everyone learns the same. Some kids are great with visuals. Some kids like to watch how to complete a problem and then replicate a similar problem. Some kids need volume to practice arithmetic. We’ve seen and helped them all!

After taking both a diagnostic SAT and ACT, we’ll organize a curriculum to attack the areas that have the most room for improvement, first. Ideally, we’ll have enough time to cover everything ahead of test day. If not, we’ll still prioritize the schedule with the best bang for your buck to bring up the score most quickly.

Also… not to toot our own horn too much, we’re confident that the grammar and reading comprehension lessons we developed will serve students in any class they take or job they have for years to come.

We are big fans of the Socratic Method ☺ Choosing A “because it’s right” doesn’t fly here at Stone Hall Tutors. Explain step-by-step why something does or doesn’t work!

Step 3: Practice, practice, practice!

Shocker… but practice helps. We’ve developed a system that ramps up homework over time. Students will, on average, have about 60-70 minutes of homework each week.

Then, as we approach the official exams, we ask students to start taking full practice tests.

This isn’t anyone’s favourite way to spend a Saturday morning, but practicing the full exam helps us improve our mental stamina. It’s great if you can complete every single type of problem on the test. It doesn’t matter if you’re too tired to do it!

Step 4: Make This an Undeniably Good Experience.

If you have a self-motivated student who wants to practice and improve on their own, they can.

If you want to find a less expensive tutor, you can.

There are limitless companies to choose from, trust me, I’ve worked at many of them, and they are extremely capable.

All that said, you can’t find anyone better than us.

When I built this company, I had two main theories behind making it successful.

Pay tutors well above market rates. This brings in only the most qualified candidates and reduces turnover, so I know my team is exceptional. Hire based on personality.

Remember the teacher who took the time to explain things to you? Made jokes? Asked about how your soccer game went? Those were the academic experiences that made a difference for me. I worked harder for people I liked.

I keep my team small, fun, and smart. That’s a guarantee.

Get Started On Securing A High SAT/ACT Score!

Why You Can't Afford Not To Prep For The SAT/ACT

- High entrance exam scores are being looked at over a high GPA. While many schools have switched to test-optional this doesn't mean you should be relying on a high GPA to get into college. The majority of top colleges (especially Ivy League) require a high SAT/ACT score to get accepted and are now putting more weight into test scores than a student’s overall GPA.

-A strong SAT/ACT score is required for the majority of scholarships

-Taking the SAT/ACT will be a stressful time for your child. Proper test prep will help them go into the test with less anxiety and more confidence

What Our Students Have To Say!

Stone Hall Tutors was founded by Matt Plonsker, who earned his B.A from the University of Michigan and his MBA from UCLA’S Anderson school of management. After working with hundreds of students at several of the nation’s premier test prep agencies, he decided to develop his own curriculum, sourcing the best tips and tricks he picked up along the way.

Stone Hall prides itself on creating individualized learning plans for each and every student. Because if one thing has become apparent in contemporary education psychology, it’s that everyone learns differently!

All of our instructors have graduated from top Universities and earned in the 99th percentile on the tests they tutor, but even more importantly they’re fun! We’re hyper aware of how dense the material can be, so we made sure to find teachers that were as engaging as they were capable. Make sure to tell us what kind of a personality your student responds to best, so we can match them with the right instructor!
